Climate accounts and LCA report – documentation of our environmental impacts
At Door System, we are aware of the responsibility we bear towards the climate as a result of the environmental impacts that our products and the production of doors and gates create. We work determinedly to map our CO2 emissions and document our environmental impact. We have reached out to our suppliers to get more accurate data on their specific products. Similarly, we have worked to document our own production consumption. At Door System, we emphasise being at the cutting edge of legal requirements in relation to sustainability including having our documentation in place.
We have received the LCA Report on our EI260-C hinged fire door to document the environmental impact of the door. In 2024, we have planned to prepare LCA reports for more of our doors and gates. Furthermore, we received our 2022 Climate Accounts in November last year.

2022 climate accounts
The climate accounts are based on the GHG protocol standard and address emissions from the scopes 1, 2, and 3.
Already in 2021, we began preparing climate accounts. We upgraded the data quality for specific purchasing amounts in 2022. The largest groups for materials acquired are now primarily based on amounts rather than financial data, which ensures a more true and fair presentation of total emissions.
Consequently, we have decided to use the 2022 climate accounts as our baseline year, allowing us the opportunity to better compare and improve data and emissions going forward. To read the Door System 2022 climate accounts – click here.
For 2022, the total Door System scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 activity emissions are 7,756 tons CO2-eq, the majority of which are scope 3 emissions.
Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions
Scope 1 contributes 278 tons of CO2-eq, primarily originating from service engineer vehicle diesel consumption and gas for heating production facilities.
Scope 2 contributes 65 tons of CO2-eq, primarily originating from power consumption - tallied as market-based power.
Scope 3 contributes 7,412 tons of CO2-eq which is 95% of the total emissions by Door System. Goods acquired account for 78% of scope 3 emissions and as indicated on the figure above, steel, automatics, and component parts are the primary sources of our indirect emissions.
Reduction potentials
The improved and more detailed data material gives us an excellent insight into scopes 1, 2, and 3 reduction potentials.
Scope 1
In scope 1, there are alternatives to the current production facility heating with the potential for reducing fossil emissions.
Another scope 1 focus area is our driving and transport solutions with potential for reduction of fossil emissions.
Scope 2
In scope 2, the reduction potentials lie in how we can optimise our electricity consumption.
Scope 3 – Goods acquired
In 2023, our goal was to obtain more accurate data on our acquired goods. Our focus now is on creating reductions, which could be achieved by changes to supplier choices. Currently, we have supplier specific data covering several steel and aluminium suppliers, and we could optimise our scope 3 emissions by buying more from suppliers with the lowest emission factors and buying less from suppliers with the highest emission factors.
Our focus is initially on scope 3.
We are also considering various issues regarding circular economy and activities within waste sorting.
EI260 hinged fire door LCA report
This LCA report assesses the environmental impact of a 1 m2 fire door including the handle, lock case, and door check. The environmental impact of the door is directly linked to its relatively high weight per m2, and the materials used. Some materials, such as the rock wool, are significant contributors due to, among other things, its waste sorting, and both the door check and the lock case contribute significantly despite their low weight.
The results of the life cycle analysis of the fire door’s climate impact can be used in connection with the LCA calculation of a building as prescribed in the Building Regulations.
The life cycle analysis of the EI260 fire door has been prepared in accordance with DS/EN15978:2012 and meets the requirements of the Building Regulations for the calculation method and module content.
We have also developed a calculation tool that allows us to estimate emissions in kg CO2-eq for specific fire doors.

We have a member of staff at Door System dedicated to identifying and documenting our environmental impact.
We also collaborate with external consultants who assist us in providing analyses and correct documentation, for example, through their calculation models. The consultancy process is carried out with support from the EU.
